Away to the east, Mt Kaputar National Park  offers picnic and camping areas. To the west  a day trip can take you through historic  Wee Waa, then “just up the road” to Burren Junction where you can take a dip at the  Burren Junction Bore Baths, before heading  back to Yarrie Lake for a picnic lunch then  to the awesome Australia Telescope.
